Becker, Dorsch advance in singles

BATON ROUGE, La. — Former Baylor teammates and NCAA champions Benjamin Becker and Benedikt Dorsch took different roads to the second round of the $50,000 Price Leblanc Lexus Pro Tennis Classic.

While the top-seeded Becker made quick work of Gary Lugassy, 6-1, 6-1, for the second straight week, Dorsch survived two tiebreakers and three sets to knock off wild-card entry Ryan Sweeting, 6-3, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (4), on Monday.

After a day off, Dorsch will draw third-seeded Igor Kunitsyn, and Becker will face the winner of a match today between qualifier Martin Fischer and lucky-loser entry Izak van der Merwe.
